How My Emojis Work. 🀨

where the most common emojis will show up:

πŸ“š - site that offers a lot of free books; at least three or more.

πŸ“– - PDF, standalone, link to one book, or a site solely dedicated to one book.

            πŸ“•πŸ“˜πŸ“—πŸ“™ - link to a book in a series, not a standalone.

πŸ‘€ - special offers, hacks, deals, tips, and tricks.

πŸŽ₯ - site that offers movies to watch free online, or link to specific movie.

4.50 From Paddington πŸ“–

I was looking for a place to read 4.50 From Paddington online (free...as usual) and I only got scam sites and then this one showed up and it looks like it's run by someone who types them up, no offense whoever does the site stuff, but it looks above-board and innocent. Looks can be deceiving but idrc as long as I get to read the book for free. Though if it's good, I always put it on my to-buy list and try to do that so that I'm not totally sponging off of people's hard work (including the author, and the person who typed it up on the computer in the first place).

And as far as I know, that's the only book they're offering at the moment. But feel free to click around, I've only done the URL at the very bottom of the page and it took me to a site that said that domain was available. Thanks. No thanks.

How do my blog post title emojis work?

Feedbooks πŸ“š

Somebody helped me out on Goodreads awhile back and linked to a website called Feedbooks. So I thought I'd link it here and let you try to find your books.

I need help finding Greensleeves by Eloise Jarvis McGraw but they didn't have it so I'm still looking. If I find it, I am so linking it here because I want to keep it around.

But note: Feedbooks doesn't have a whole lot of books that are free - you have a choice in either buying it or leaving it for most of the books. Blue Castle by LM Montgomery was the only book I found that was free for download - though I didn't really search many other books. Anyway, tell me if you have success with this website, if you try it. I didn't.

What do your emojis mean in your blog post title?

EBooksCart: Legit? 🀷

I saw someone's comment on an earlier post, recommending a website, EBooksCart. Since I'm always up for discovering more websites that let me read books for free, I googled "ebookscart" and clicked on the first link (same as the one I linked to). Seemed perfectly above-board - as above-board as free book websites can get - so I downloaded The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

It took three clicks to download, which isn't bad - I'm ok with a roundabout way as long as I end up with the book I wanted to read - and it downloaded quickly, without any pop-ups. But when I clicked on the file, it opened up in the pictures app, instead of the app the computer usually uses (for Macs that would be iBook, for any other computer I believe it opens in Adobe Acrobat, specifically the Acrobat Reader).

Not only did it open in the wrong app, it wasn't even the right book. It was a lot of pictures and not much (readable) text, so I deleted the file.

EBooksCart is not legit.

Finding a Book When You've Forgotten Its Title πŸ€”πŸ’

I'm not going to do that dumb "raise your hand if you can't find a book" thing, but I think everyone, at some point in their lives, has gone looking for a book, not sure about the title and even less sure about the author, and only the smallest bit sure about the plot - but they know they want to find it.

So here's a link I found to other links they found that are helpful for finding a book by its rough storyline - not its title.

This is also a helpful link. Meaning it's a link meant to help. So it might or it might not.

I'm on the Goodreads group, and I'd love to meet you if you joined so say hi to twice_baked and I'll probably say hi back. ;) But please don't do that if you know me or you're related to me because that's just awkward and I'm almost never on Goodreads anymore anyway. Or at least I won't be if I find out you're on there too. Also if you're related, why are you on here, get off.

The Scarlet Pimpernel FULL SERIES Read Free Online! πŸ“š

I've used this website since I started reading the series way back when I was...eleven, I think? I got hooked on the "mysteriously unknown hero-figure swoops in to save the day and be gallant and crazy and ninja about it all" and I've never regretted the time I used (wasted, maybe lol) to read the whole series. But anyway, the Blakeney Manor is the website I've always used - my sisters introduced it to me when they found it way back when (I think it 's bordering on 7 years now) and then when I was old enough, they handed it down to me. So now I'm handing it to you. Here you go, go read the Scarlet Pimpernel series and tell me which one is your favorite (mine is Child of the Revolution, if you ever get that far).

Warning, the link is a little bit confusing to navigate. If you want to know how to do it in case you lose this website later on (fsr), I have a tutorial at the very very very bottom (click "keep reading") but I also have a direct link, directly below.

RIP OceanofPDF 😒

Ugh, another website taken down because authors were complaining. Nah fam, if I were an author I would be fine with having my work up - because if it's actually good, people will want to have a handheld copy. At least, I do. I read all of the Queen's Thief series online and I'm hoping to buy it soon so you authors need to get the heck over it.

Anyway ok. I saw the comments you guys had left and I was surprised, so I clicked on the link and... ?? DUDE WHERE THAT SITE AT THO?? You guys were right, totally gone.

So I went searching since maybe it was my computer or your computer or something other than gone - and I got a reddit thread, top link. If you don't want to go read all of it, I'll spare you the sob story and cut to the chase: yeah, it's gone. All gone.

Authors apparently complained, it's rumored that there may be legal trouble, and neither email is working (one says it's not an email address anymore, and one says it didn't send). The guy usually replies to emails but not this time. Most people are sad because where they live books are expensive, but some are sad because they're penny pinchers (that would be me - also I like reading the book and deciding whether it's worth my money or not before I buy it, that too).

You can read about the authors' uproar over the website right here. It's actually kind of sad, because it sounds like the four people who worked on oceanofpdf worked really hard and actually put effort into it, typing it out by hand! Hopefully they can be back up in another place pretty soon. πŸ™ This is telling me I should probably save all my work in case this one gets pulled down, too - not like anyone notices a blogger blog but I'm still worried now... πŸ˜‹ (no but really, should I...?)

So if books are expensive or inaccessible where you live, I'd suggest this website since it seems above-board and also in alliance with authors. Warning, it's a little bit confusing to navigate. If you need help, leave a comment/email me. I hope you don't tho because I haven't done it in a while.

But try not to be too open about using that site because I don't want THEM disappearing too, good grief.

Planet eBook - 100% Free Literature πŸ“š

Since you're probably all sad about oceanofpdf, I thought I'd boost your confidence in free ebook websites and give you another - even though I already offered you unglue.it but if you don't trust that website, here's another to be skeptical about! If it's not good enough, oh well, I tried.

I searched for They Do It With Mirrors because that's the book I'm on the hunt for currently, but they don't have it whyyy guyyyys. They don't have any Agatha Christies (!!) even though she's pretty classic. Thankfully, they do offer Baroness Orczy's The Scarlet Pimpernel so they're not totally whackers. I guess. But they only have the first. (Which reminds me, link to the complete series online is coming soon!)

Anyway I already gave you the link, but I'll include it at the very bottom if you missed it. It's all above board but who knows? It'll probably go away any day now (ugh) so jump on it and find all your favorites. I've browsed their selection (only clicked on 1984, so not sure if all of them work but pretty confident) and they seem to go for the classics. Which is fine,  because I do too, but if you're not into that and you want something more Harry Potter or Hunger Games (ew but ok), well then this isn't your website. You can try, but I doubt you'll find anything. It's worth a shot, though, if you're desperate!

PS. I did try searching for, in this order and style... hunger games, harry potter, lord of the rings, The Hobbit - so even when I capitalize, they still don't have it. Haha. Maybe you should get better taste in books. << just kidding, my dad loves LOTR so I can't completely judge. And two of my friends love Harry Potter so I almost can't judge at all but I'm still doing it.

27 Free Short Stories You Can Read Online Right Now πŸ‘€

Big whoop but I found the link and thought I'd share. The title says thirty but it's actually twenty-seven so I don't know what they're smoking. Anyway, you might be interesting, idk, you might as well try it out.

They Do It With Mirrors πŸ“–

I just googled it, like I always do: "they do it with mirrors agatha christie read free online" and none of them were helpful except English E-Reader's link because that one actually gets you somewhere. You have to download it, though, so if you don't want to, this isn't helpful.

But you can read They Do It With Mirrors here. Click on the option you want, epub is the way I always go and it's worked for me every time, but I think they're all work-able. I've never tried any of the others tho, so good luck and tell me how it goes if you do.

I'll be on the lookout for a read online option for this book bc my computer doesn't have enough space for a whole book but this is the backup plan for now. :\
