I haven't read it yet since it's still November (love that scheduled publishing life am I righttt) but I'm planning on it so this will change if I have. Anyweeeeoooo enjoioi

Watch Young and Innocent (1937) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 22m. Genre: Drama/Mystery. Starring: Nova Pilbeam and Derrick de Marney. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Synopsis. When average joe Robert Tisdall (Derrick de Marney) discovers the body of actress Christine Clay (Pamela Carme) washed up on shore, he is arrested for her murder. Having no confidence in the barrister assigned to him, Tisdall escapes from the police station and ends up hitching a ride with the police chief's daughter, Erica Burgoyne (Nova Pilbeam). After being spotted together, the two are assumed to be in league and have no choice but to cooperate in order to uncover the real killer. (Google)

My opinion. Haven't seen it yet.

Watch The Million Pound Note (1954) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 25m. Genre: Drama/Romance. Starring: Gregory Peck. Directed by Ronald Neame.

Synopsis. As part of a bet, two aristocrats offer a penniless American a loan, without telling him that the amount is £1,000,000 in the form of a single banknote. (IMDb)

My opinion. It's been awhile since I watched it, but from what I remember well, 1. it's forgettable evidently and 2. the ending was a little bit boring/unsatisfying, and a lot more simple and straightforward than I thought it was going to be. There wasn't really any catch, there wasn't much of a twist, it just kind of faded off into the end and there wasn't anything very memorable about it. But it's an easy watch, doesn't take much thinking.

Watch Jamaica Inn (1939) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 40m. Genre: Crime/Thriller. Starring: Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Synopsis. After the death of her mother, young Mary (Maureen O'Hara) travels to the Cornish coast seeking her Aunt Patience (Marie Ney). Stranded on a windswept, isolated road, Mary meets Humphrey Pengallan (Charles Laughton), who kindly escorts her to the Jamaica Inn. There, Mary meets her aunt and bullying uncle, Merlyn Joss (Leslie Banks) -- who secretly leads a band of pirates that pilfers the goods from wrecked ships. Suspicious, Mary turns to Pengallan for help, only to discover another dark secret. (Google)

My opinion. Based off of Dauphne du Maurier's book of the same title, I haven't actually watched this because I want to read the book first.

Watch The Stranger (1946) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 55m. Genre: Drama/Mystery. Starring: Orson Welles and Loretta Young. Directed by Orson Welles.

Synopsis. Immediately following World War II, ex-Nazi Franz Kindler (Orson Welles) is living under a false identity as a teacher in a small Connecticut town, and married to the headmaster's daughter (Loretta Young) as part of his cover. But when one of Kindler's old German associates (Konstantin Shayne) arrives unexpectedly in town, bringing in his wake a sly federal investigator (Edward G. Robinson), Kindler resorts to desperate measures to preserve his secret. (Google)

My opinion. This movie was so good. Not good like the later Hitchcocks are good, but considering that it was produced in the 40's, the quality is good, the acting is good, and the plot is superb. Very intense, very interesting, and a bit PG-13 because of the ending. It did end abruptly, but all's well that end's well and idrc if it's not as conclusive as other movies (like Vertigo, LOL).

Watch Gaslight (1940) Online Free πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 24m. Genre: Drama/Mystery. Starring: Diana Wynyard and Anton Walbrook. Directed by Thorold Dickinson.

Synopsis. Twenty years removed from Alice Barlow's murder by a thief looking for her jewels, newlyweds Paul (Anton Walbrook) and Bella Mallen (Diana Wynyard) move into the very house where the crime was committed. Retired detective B.G. Rough (Frank Pettingell), who worked on the Barlow case, is still in the area and grows suspicious of Paul, who he feels bears a striking resemblance to one of Barlow's relatives. Rough must find the truth before the killer can strike again and reclaim his bounty. (Google)

My opinion. Hard to get into at first, because I felt like the acting was very 30's and a little bit too dramatic for my taste. However, as I watched (and got used to their accents), I started to enjoy it and feel both anger towards the dude and sympathy towards the lady. Plus it was better acting than I had originally thought, they both do a really good job and it makes me want to watch the 1944 movie starring Ingrid Bergman (and I would watch it except I can't find it free on YouTube - if I can find it free anywhere else for sure I'll 1. watch it and 2. post the link - if you don't mind forking over a whole $1, watch it on Amazon Prime). It did a good job at ramping up the tension and being creepy. You have doubts about everyone and whether anyone is up to any good, or at least up to what they're saying they're up to. Some parts it left unexplained* but it wrapped up nicely, all things considering. Probably a movie I'll re-watch in the future, but not for a while.

*(spoilers - don't continue if you haven't watched it and don't want to know)
like 1) did he know about the rubies when he gave her the brooch? Probably not since he seemed shocked and wanted to get them back, but then why did he keep that one of all the things he had, and also why didn't he check each of the things he got from the murdered, to make sure none were hiding anything. 2) How did they get a warrant for his house when he hasn't done anything to break the law? Is British law different from American law? 3) Does Nancy know she's involved & sort of an agent for them? If so, why don't they say that? And if not, why is she being all pal-around with her boss? Is it only so she can get info out of him? Then why didn't her story wrap up with everyone else's? and I had a fourth but I can't remember it lol.

Watch The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 2hr. Genre: Drama/Mystery. Starring: Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Synopsis. Dr. Ben McKenna (James Stewart) is on vacation with his wife (Doris Day) and son in Morocco when a chance encounter with a stranger sets their trip, and their lives, on a drastically different course. The stranger, killed in front of the family in the marketplace, reveals an assassination plot to the Americans. The couple's son is abducted in order to ensure the plot is kept secret, and suddenly the mother and father, with no help from the police, must figure out a way to get their child back. (Google)

My opinion. Waste of time, but if your goal is to watch all Hitchcock films or just to watch this one then have at it but you won't like it.

Watch The Thirty-Nine Steps (1939) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 27m. Genre: Mystery/Thriller. Starring: Madeleine Caroll and Robert Donat. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Synopsis. A man in London tries to help a counter-espionage Agent. But when the Agent is killed, and the man stands accused, he must go on the run to save himself and stop a spy ring which is trying to steal top secret information. (IMDb)

My opinion. It was good, but a little bit hard to follow and a little bit clunky, klugy, and old-fashioned. Keep in mind that it was made in the 30's and maybe it'll be easier to watch. I still found it engaging, funny, and fun. The ending is what you'd expect, but then what Hitchcock isn't.

Watch Rope (1948) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Warning: it has annoying subtitles that pop up every couple minutes, because they got it off some scam site but you get used to it so if you're desperate/cheap enough, you won't care.

Length: 1hr 20m. Genre: Drama/Mystery. Starring: Jimmy Stewart, Farley Granger, and John Dall. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Synopsis. Brandon and Philip are two young men who share a New York City apartment. They consider themselves intellectually superior to their friend David Kentley, and as a consequence, decide to murder him. (IMDb)

My opinion. A little bit gruesome at the beginning, but nothing gory and not for very long. One of my favorite movies, partially because it has some funny lines, partially because it makes me really want to throw a party, partially because the things they discuss at the end of the movie are fascinating, and last partially because it takes place in one setting and only had four cuts the entire movie - so basically just one continuous shot in one continuous location and I love that.

Watch Shadow of a Doubt (1943) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 47m. Genre: Drama/Mystery. Starring: Ingrid Bergman and Yul Brynner. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Synopsis. Uncle Charlie (Joseph Cotten) visits his relatives in Santa Rosa. He is a very charming man, but his niece slowly realizes that he's not what he seems and as he recognizes her suspicions, the pieces slowly fit into place - but who is he really, and is it too late?

My opinion. I loved this movie, another early Hitchcock and it's excellent! Lots of suspense, lots of suspicion, and lots of close calls for everyone involved. I can't give a full review and nobody really cares what I think but have fun anyway.

Watch Notorious (1946) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 42m. Genre: Drama/Mystery. Starring: Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

Synopsis. In order to help bring Nazis to justice, U.S. government agent T.R. Devlin (Cary Grant) recruits Alicia Huberman (Ingrid Bergman), the American daughter of a convicted German war criminal, as a spy. As they begin to fall for one another, Alicia is instructed to win the affections of Alexander Sebastian (Claude Rains), a Nazi hiding out in Brazil. When Sebastian becomes serious about his relationship with Alicia, the stakes get higher, and Devlin must watch her slip further undercover. (Google)

My opinion. Ah man I love movies where people go undercover! This is pretty suspenseful and it was amazing to watch, I loved it. Don't rlly have anything to say tho bc I haven't watched it in like a year.

Watch Anastasia (1956) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 1hr 45m. Genre: Drama/Romance Starring: Ingrid Bergman and Yul Brynner. Directed by Anatole Litvak.

Synopsis. The film involves a con man (Yul Brynner) who concocts an outlandish plot to pass off a beautiful amnesiac (Ingrid Bergman) as Anastasia, the daughter of Nicholas II, who was long rumored to have survived the execution squad that murdered the other members of the Russian emperor’s family in 1917. The woman becomes so convincing that Brynner begins to suspect that she may really be Anastasia, even as he begins to fall in love with her. (Britannica)

My opinion. I haven't watched this in a super long while (sad), but I LOVED this movie the one time I watched it and I hope I'll have a chance to watch it again before the year is over but who knows when I'll have the time. It's definitely first class, one of the best old movies I've ever watched that's strictly romantic, another perfect movie when you're home alone on a cold, rainy night - especially if you're sick and tired and don't want to be scared or on the edge of your seat. It has such a sweet, perfect ending, too.

Watch Goodbye Again (1961) Free Online πŸŽ₯

Length: 2 hours. Genre: Adaptation/Drama Starring: Ingrid Bergman and Anthony Perkins. Directed by Anatole Litvak.

Synopsis. Middle-aged businesswoman Paula Tessier (Ingrid Bergman) resists the advances of Philip Van der Besh (Anthony Perkins), the 24-year-old son of one of her clients (Jessie Royce Landis). But when her longtime paramour, Roger Demarest (Yves Montand), begins yet another casual affair with a younger woman, Paula decides that two can play that game. (Google)

My opinion. It's not a very plot-twist story, and it turns out the way you'd expect it to - plus it gets a bit less interesting in the second half. The beginning, though, is full of funny scenes, and Perkins is (as always) adorable and funny and awkward in the cute way. I love the beginning, and for the most part I was satisfied with the end - on the other hand, I just didn't connect with any of them (including Perkins) because I didn't find myself sympathetic towards them, and I didn't find them relatable (relatable in the story kind of way, not in the basic VSCO/Tumblr girl way) so I think that's why I didn't find the story line very compelling but it's a fun movie to watch and it's not scary at all. I watched it on a rainy night when I was sick with a sore throat and disgusting cold tea, home alone, waiting for everyone to get back from visiting relatives and it's a perfect movie for that kind of situation.

Watch Big Fish Free Online πŸŽ₯

I'll be coming out w a list of free movie sites eventually, but rn here's a movie my family loves (I don't rlly enjoy it but they do), and you've probably heard of it - the classic, Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton about Edward Bloom (Albert Finney) who becomes ill, so his son, William (Billy Crudup), travels to be with him. William has a strained relationship with Edward because his father has always told exaggerated stories about his life, and William thinks he's never really told the truth. Even on his deathbed, Edward recounts fantastical anecdotes. When William, who is a journalist, starts to investigate his father's tales, he begins to understand the man and his past, revealing a new side to Edward Bloom.

My sister rlly wanted to watch it last Friday after we went swimming, so we set it up on the computer and wrapped up under the covers and if you feel like re-watching the 2003 classic, here's the link bruv

(just a warning, it does have ads on the side and an ad that pops up every time you start or stop the movie. Other than that, it works fine. At least it's not dailymotion, k)

Watch How to Steal a Million Free Online πŸŽ₯

Charles Bonnet (Hugh Griffith) expresses his passion for art by forging masterpieces -- and selling them at a hefty profit. The trouble starts when his reproduction of a prized sculpture winds up in a famous Paris museum. If experts determine that it is inauthentic, Bonnet's reputation will be tarnished. That's why his fetching daughter, Nicole (Audrey Hepburn), hires cat burglar Simon Dermott (Peter O'Toole) to steal the sculpture back before it's too late.

I've never used this site before tonight (May 27th in case I ever want to know) so I don't know how sketch it is, but it doesn't look like it has a whole lot of ads and I wasn't there when they clicked play so idk how many ads pop up (usually on the sketch sites, it's when you try to play the movie that the ads get triggered) - but we did pause it, and no ads popped up so as long as you can get the movie started, you're good to go.

Be careful, though. I'm still a little bit dubious about it because 1. the link is weird (usually when there isn't a name/brand, it's not legit or aboveboard and is probs trying to fly under the radar bc of some illegal thing on the side of stealing movies) 2. there's no "www"/".com"before the name - idk why that makes me kind of stutter a little bit but it just does. There's something about not having the usual thing that makes me feel not-good abt it 3. it's written in a different language which isn't trying to be snobby or xenophobic, it's just that the sites in English will be the more professional, legit, less of a scam. idk, that's just been my experience, you can take it or leave it. Anyway, I've never used this site for more than that one video but I would suggest that if none of your other sites have worked, that instead of going to this one and searching directly on it, try Googling the movie and then tacking on "ok.ru" and seeing if it shows up and then you can get it from Google instead of from itself. Just seems safer, to me.

Gone With The Wind πŸ“–

I'm reading this over June and July with a friend, and I might not be able to get to the library on time, so if you're in the same boat, here's the link. It's Project Gutenberg so no sleazy ads, no shady sites, just a normal run-of-the-mill place to read a book for free on your electronic.

Update: I'm really enjoying it so far - I'm already finished with part two and it's only the seventh! I thought I would kind of dislike it bc it's about the USA's Civil War and it's a HUGE book - but I was actually hooked after the first couple chapters, which is mind-blowing to me bc honestly I'm not a huge fan of historical fiction, especially giant-size historical fiction. I finally understand what all the hype was about and if you're in the same boat as I am, find someone to read it with so that you'll actually stick with it even if you're not a huge fan of it, and then just go for it. If you're reading it online, I would highly suggest getting a hard copy to read bc I find it extremely hard to enjoy a book if it's through a screen. fsr it's so much easier if I have something to hold, and pages to flip - and the book is so long that I think it's easy to get bored, disinterested, and/or discouraged when you're reading it online, partially bc you can't see the progress you're making as easily as you can when you have the actual material. Just some advice, take it or leave idrc.

(btw it's only an update because I wrote the first part of the post - including the link - way back at the beginning of May, before I'd started the book and now that I've started it I'm "coming back" to update, even tho it's not really coming back if it's all going up on the same day πŸ˜‚)

Another update (June 28, 2019): please nobody read this book. To take a page out of Lemony Snicket's book: if you've never read this book and you're curious, good for you and don't be. Please take my advice and don't even think about reading it unless you like unsatisfying, inconclusive endings that leave you with too many questions, a hatred for all books in general especially this one, and an apathy for life. Literally. I did not care about anything after I read that book - I wasn't interested in my favorite movies, sports, activities, and especially not books. I was so disinterested in everything, it was like I was a zombie, just going through the motions, doing nothing, thinking nothing, feeling nothing, caring about nothing, I did not care about anything, I kind of just wanted everything to go away and I hate this book, don't read it. It took me three days (and counting) to get over the book. It's been three days and I'm still not over it, I can't get it off my mind, every day I wake up and remember the ending and it's a drag, just don't read it please just don't. You might not know why (because I don't give away spoilers) but just trust me when I say you don't want to read the book. You might love it up until the ending but you won't love the ending. ofc, five star reviews come from somewhere so I guess there are still a lot of crazy people around who love the book, and also it became a classic somehow but just don't read it. plz I'm trying to save you, just take my advice and leave it alone. ig if you're reading it w other ppl it's less of a drag bc then you can talk about it but then in that case wait until they've caught up w you so that you can talk it out w them. Just warning you, I would stay as far away as possible from that trash novel.

Murder In Mesopotamia (PDF) πŸ“–

There are two links. Last one is a pdf (doesn't download automatically, dw) and is a little bit hard to highlight as you're reading (I just like doing that so I can keep track of where I am - if you don't like doing that, pdf shouldn't be a problem for you). The first one is more blog-style and I prefer that but it's all up to you. The first one also has access to other Agatha Christies (see previous post) so if you want to jump straight into another as soon as you've finished this one, I'd suggest using the first.

https://www.educatora.in/uploads/2/0/5/1/20513864/murder_in_mesopotamia_by_agatha_christie.pdf

UPDATE: the first one doesn't have the full book, so if you're not jazzed about reading a pdf (the second link), after a LOT of searching I finally unearthed the full book on (guess where) archive.org, which is a blessing of a site, I love that place so, thanks to them, here's the full version:

There is one drawback: they have some typos, which can make reading confusing. I posted my own so that I don't have to read it with the typos - I corrected the mistakes by checking mine against the pdf, the second link I gave. The link to mine is available on the side, with the rest of the books I've republished, or you can just click here (opens in new tab). If you don't want to use my version, that's fine, the third link listed is a fine way to read the book, but it does have typos and might be hard to read. The pdf is 100% fine, too, if you don't mind downloading the book.

Agatha Christie Novels - Read Free Online πŸ“š

I haven't checked, so I have no idea, but they might have all of her books. I glanced through the list and there are a lot there, but a lot as in there were about 10 on that first page - so they might have all 80+ or they might not, but if you're trying to find an Agatha Christie somewhere, anywhere, check these guys out bc chances are it's there.

John Grisham Novels - Read Free Online πŸ“š

If you want all of the John Grisham books ever (or maybe just almost all, I haven't checked), maybe try this website which has all of them (or maybe just almost all, I haven't checked). Now you can read all your favorite Grishams! (or maybe just almost all, I haven't checked.)

To read, click one of the names on the list, then the green "read free" button at the top of the description. Enjoi.

If you want to go next, hit the blue "next" button at the bottom of the page. For easy access to where you left off, click on the drop down menu left of the next button, and skip ahead. No ads, no pop ups either, and it's pretty straightforward, no beating around the bush. I love sites like this, just hope it stays up.

The Rainmaker πŸ“–

by John Grisham. Don't have time to read the actual copy of the book (like The Testament, it's at the beach house I'm staying in and I only have three days left in the trip to read it so I want it online in case I can't finish it time) - so here's the link.

The Testament πŸ“–

by John Grisham, heard it's rlly good, but I've never read it and I probably won't buy it anytime soon, so here it is online. Hopefully that link will still be working by the time I get around to reading it lol

Walk Two Moons (Playlist and Book) πŸ“–

I was reading Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech (which is one of those books that fit the "don't judge a book by it's cover" category bc the cover makes the book look so stupid and not worth your time). While I was reading it (I read it in one day so this shouldn't surprise you but) there was a song running through my head, Saturn by Sleeping At Last.

Silent Victim πŸ“–

I've heard this just isn't that good, but here's a link if you want it. The book, despite the eerie title, does not have any questionable scenes. There is, apparently, one part where emotional manipulation is used, but there are no scenes that you would be uncomfortable or weird out by. Would you give this to a 12 year old to read? Yeah, if she likes crime or scary stories (tho this one doesn't sound that scary). Other than it possibly giving her nightmares, it's safe.

1984 πŸ“–

First link has an easier layout, so it's more understandable, but the second on I find more trustworthy because it's Project Gutenberg and ik there aren't going to be any ads or any sections of the book just missing - which happens with surprising frequency with some of these free book websites. BUT if you want to have the option of quickly jumping from one chapter to another, the first link is the one you want because you can jump from chapter 1 to chapter 14 with one click, whereas the second link is like my blog, where you have to scroll and scroll until you find your spot again. Which is really annoying, but some sites don't have the option of jumping from one place to another (trust me, I've fiddled with the html on this thing so often, I'm surprised it has as few glitches as it does. It's harder than I thought, to tell the computer to jump to this section when someone clicks that button).

Anyway. User discretion would apply here, except there are no ads so it's not really discretion it's just which would you rather, a user-friendly website or a reliable website (if you're having a hard time choosing, I personally would choose the user-friendly website, bc it'll make your life a heck ton easier).

Update: I got to part 2, chapter 9 using the first link and the end of the chapter is just missing. The rest of the book is intact but idk where ch 9 went. I had to use the second link (Project Gutenberg) to finish it.

differences on the Pride and Prejudice versions, and my thoughts on all of them

Differences on the different Pride and Prejudice versions, and my thoughts on all of them ("all" as in the 1940 version, the 1995 version, and the 2005 version, complete with links. Actually not complete, but has a couple links here and there).

Opening thoughts so you know where I stand:
I think Mr. Darcy is supposed to be 1) attractive and 2) aloof. And the 2005 Mr. Darcy was neither one of those. From what I remember, he was pretty quick to get over his pride. And ik that's because they were trying to make a short version so that people could watch and not take a huge chunk of time out of their day but it still undermines the whole point of the book - you're supposed to be able to see how much he's changed from the beginning and if he changes too fast than it's not all that different from anyone else who first didn't like you and now does. It just seems like the Mr. Darcy from the 1995 version was more interesting because of how long it takes him to get over his dislike and distaste for lower-class people. The newer Mr. Darcy doesn't seem like he even sees their lower class because he's so ready to become friends with them if you know what I mean. If you don't, feel free to get in touch, and we can argue, I'm willing to take any 2005 fans on because they're all fake P&P fans anyway.

OK, so I watched the 1940 first proposal and here is the first thing that comes to mind:

Death in the Clouds πŸ“–

I usually just google the name and the author and tack on "read free online", which is what I did this time and stumbled on English e-Reader which I've used in the past to find English books I can't find anywhere else (there were a couple Agatha Christies). That's the first link. The second one has drawings from Death in the Clouds that are all at the beginning, before the first chapter. English e-Reader's book doesn't have the drawings or the list of characters and chapters, it just jumps into the story. The last link has a poorly-put-together book - the words runinto each other likethis and itsreally hard toreadif you want to. So if you want the list of characters, look at the last link. If you want to have an easy time reading, download the book with the first link.

Just a warning, if you're going to use the first link, use the "download: epub", don't read the "read online" button (use the middle one, not the first one) because then it'll take you to a 403 error and say you have to login to read which is dumb because you can just download the book but k.

LINK. https://english-e-reader.net/book/death-in-the-clouds-agatha-christie (this one will download using your computer's built-in "book software" - for Samsung it's Adobe Flash Reader, for Mac it's iBooks and idk about PC but they probably have something for this too)

LINK. https://reader.bookmate.com/BKxLQnSG (this layout is basically like iBooks/AFR/Kindle but online and not easy to read)

When The Sea Turned to Silver: Overview

(MAJOR SPOILERS.)

This is like the other two, for those of you who have already read the book. I was really confused as to what was going on and then the more and more I read, each time I read the book, it became clearer and clearer and the pieces of the whole series finally started to fit and come together. So my review isn't so much what I liked about it or what is so great about it (because that's NOT what I want this blog to be) - it's more of a tutorial, or a step-by-step instruction kit so you can put the puzzle together yourself. Warning, it's going to be long. That said...

Starry River of the Sky: Overview

MAJOR SPOILERS. This review is only for people who have already read it and want to know more about how this story ties into the first book, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon.

Here we come to the second book of the series.

It all starts with Rendi, son of Nobody and his wife Nothing. Wait no that's Mara.

So Rendi arrives at the Village of Clear Sky (not to get mixed up with the Village of the Moon Rain), and all we know about him is that he's running away (like Minli!) and that he's wealthy (not like Minli: not used to chores, pg 21. And pg 20, scoffs the "best room in the inn" bc it's not even as good as his father's servants' rooms). But as he stays longer and longer and learns more and more, he starts sounding awfully familiar . . .

Where The Mountain Meets The Moon: Overview

Every story told in this story is a backstory that fills in the holes and explains it as one big puzzle being solved bit by bit.

If you finished the book a little bit confused...

(MAJOR spoils ahead - and it's for people who have already read this book, so you aren't going to understand any of it if you haven't finished the book because I skip over important things that people already know. But it will also spoil it for you, so you won't understand it but have it spoiled anyway which is a terrible strategy.)

If you're not quite ready to spoil the book for yourself, but want to read more about it, check out "Stories as Scaffolding" on Story Sleuths, it's a great breakdown and does a good job of talking about the book without giving anything away.

Page By Page Books πŸ“š

This site, apparently, offers free books - hundreds, they claim. But whether it's true or not is up to you to decide - I found it by looking for Poirot Investigates by Agatha Christie and stumbled upon the fourth chapter of Mysterious Affair at Styles which is called "Poirot Investigates". They only offer Mysterious Affair and Secret Adversary, but I'm not exactly relying on them to supply my Agatha Christies so it doesn't really affect me.

The navigation is pretty easy and intuitive. No ads on the side, or popping up, and it's pretty easy to go from page to page, even if the design isn't eye-popping, but it offers books and that's more important than what it looks like, so enjoi boi.

Murder of Roger Ackroyd πŸ“–

This version, the first part of the second chapter isn't there - it starts with something about the local geography before he keeps going with the story and then talks about Roger Ackroyd for a long time, but in this version it doesn't have any of that. You might need to get two copies and read ch 2 side by side so that you can tell what you're missing and not miss it.

Update: I finished reading the second chapter and felt like something was off the whole time, so I sat down with my paperback and compared - except I didn't even look at the one online because I could tell just by reading it how much it had cut out. The first link below does have the book, but it's more like the abridged version because it's very different from the original and if you read this version, there are some significant sections completely missing from this one.

The second link is complete, as far as I know (didn't need to read it on the computer so I just glanced through the first cpl pages), but it's not as easy to read, downloads immediately on clicking the link, and as far as I can remember, has some miss-typos. Overall, though, I think it's a better option. Or just google "read murder of roger ackroyd free".

Watch Twilight Zones Free Online πŸŽ₯

This site is obviously sketchy, and if you don't have adblocker on, I'd suggest don't use it around anyone because multiple ads pop up as you're trying to watch the movie and the ads along the side are pretty skuzzy, like every other illegal site.

But it has a place to watch free movies, so how much do you care?

Poirot Investigates πŸ“–

Couldn't find it anywhere but here, though currently I'm borrowing it so if you want to read it before Thanksgiving, sorry bruh, get in line. This is my book rn so you'll have to join the waitlist if you want it. But it's not v popular like some of her books so it shouldn't be too hard. If you sign up, you'll get an email when the person ahead of you has returned the book and then you have fourteen days to read it - once they're up, I'm p sure you can borrow it again but you might have to get back in line. Idk, bc I've always finished mine before the fourteen days, but if you're a slow reader you might just want to find a different place to read the book.

Note: Archive's copy doesn't have the last couple pages of the last story. To get the last story, fully complete, click here.

Watch Laura Free Online πŸŽ₯

In one of the most celebrated 1940s film noirs, Manhattan detective Mark McPherson (Dana Andrews) investigates the murder of Madison Avenue executive Laura Hunt (Gene Tierney) in her fashionable apartment. On the trail of her murderer, McPherson quizzes Laura's arrogant best friend, gossip columnist Waldo Lydecker (Clifton Webb), and her comparatively mild fiancΓ©, Shelby Carpenter (Vincent Price). As the detective grows obsessed with the case, he finds himself falling in love with the dead woman.

This site actually has a lot of movies free for watching, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, which I couldn't find anywhere until I came upon this website. Laura is an intriguing movie that was enjoyable from the start, and I would highly recommend it. No swearing, no questionable scenes, all of it family-friendly (check it out on IMDb).

(edit: you can also watch them on archive.org, which is what I prefer using, bc it's actually a legit site and isn't stealing from whoever owns it - so I feel better about using that site. And there aren't any ads, that too.)

Murder on the Links πŸ“–

I googled - as I usual do at the beginning of my search - a pretty simple, straightforward, everyday search: "murder on the links read free online". The second-to-first link was what I was looking for. It's a pdf but you don't have to download it, you just have to read it scrolling down endlessly, since there aren't any pages or page breaks.
